How To Be A Responsible Netizen?

"Every good citizen adds to the strength of a nation"
~Gordon B. Hinckley
For many decades, we have been living in a world with so many circumstances that are unexpected. In a world that is filled with changes that may sometimes be good and bad. In a world where people may tend to be irresponsible and not care about things. People that still choose what is bad from good. And people who are greedy and do things just for their own sake and comfort. Did we ever thought that the world doesn't need us people, rather it is us who need our world to be safe and comfortable. We are the netizens of this country that we live in. We are the future of this world, only if change will start within ourselves.

A wise man once asked a rich man two questions. First, he asked if he already did something good that might be a solution to the issues we are facing today. The rich man confidently answered, "YES!". And the following question was this, "How would you be a responsible netizen?". He did not even reply a single word.

It is easy to say the word "responsibility", but I believe that it takes a lot of effort and action to fulfill its true meaning. As a modern netizen, I've thought of things that might be solutions to many issues. They say that life is like a boomerang, what you throw out into the world comes back at you. So why would you do bad deeds if you already have an idea that all of these will come back at you? Change now before it's too late.

Being a netizen tells a lot. We all have responsibilities that we need to fulfill. Over the years, I noticed a lot of people taking advantage of things that are made to be useful for humans. But sad to say, these became distractions or had bad negative effects and caused problems that affect us now.

One example is the use of social media websites. Nowadays, social media websites had been very popular to many. From kids to elders, they are now entertained by Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Youtube and many more. These kinds of social websites have different purposes. In general, these are used to impart necessary information and update others with the society. But it did not turn out the way that it should be. These had a bad effect on humanity. Yes, we are allowed to use them all and create many accounts as we like, only if we set rules and limitation. Discipline and limitation are important in every action that we take so we need to think first before we click. We must always use our own brains whenever we use those social websites. We must not let any negative things affect us and ruin our own self.

In general, the use of the modern technology has been creating a serious threat to humanity. Those cellphones, tablets, laptops, and especially computers need to be used properly. It also has a bad effect on our body especially on our eyes. Those kinds of gadgets have radiation that can cause our eyes to have a blurry vision or can damage itself. We must not only use them whenever we want to. We should have discipline and give ourselves some time for other necessary or important things.

People may have shown inhumane things that can lead to the deterioration of our world or can even put our survival at risk. It is still our own choice and our own freewill if we will do those things. We should be a reflection of what we would like to see in others. We never know that simple gestures can make someone's life a whole lot better.

Man has yet to understand the real beauty and purpose of the world that we live in. We have been living here for so little time and we are deemed wise but we could not even use the full potential of our own brains. We should always keep in mind  that there is still hope for humanity. Yes, we can never tell the future, but we can always do the right thing and be a human worth living in this world created by God who is good. And by having this kind of mindset helps us to become responsible netizens.
